KOLEEN NATIVE DIES AT LYONS - - Funeral Services for Mrs. Martha Edington to be held Wednesday. Mrs. Martha Edington, 83, died yesterday afternoon at 3:45 at her home in Lyons. She had been in ailing health for three years. Born near Koleen, she was the daughter of James Williams and Margaret Storms and had lived in Lyons for the past 30 years. Her husband Leonard Thomas Edington preceded her in death in 1938. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Emma Hardesty, Lyons; two sons Edgar of Metcalf, Ill. and Noah of Bloomington; a sister Mrs. Sadie Geddes of Doans, 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. Three daughters, Mrs. Effie Emery, Mrs. Mary Groves and Mrs. Ella Hasler and a brother Noah Williams preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the Lyons Church of Christ of which Mrs. Edington was a member. The Rev. Voris Carpenter will officate at the services, and burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. The body will lie in state at the residence until the hour of the funeral. Jenkins & Sons Lyons funeral directors are in charge of arrangements.

Martha Williams daughter of James and Margaret 'Peggy' Williams, was born near Koleen, Ind., Sept 1, 1864 and passed away at her home in Lyons on Dec. 29, 1947.She grew to womanhood and attended the rural school in the community where she was born. She was united in marriage to Leonard Edington March 5, 1885, and to this union five children were born three sons and two daughters. One son dying in infancy. Her husband preceeded her in death in 1938, and a daughter Mrs. Effie Edington passed away in 1944. surviving are the following: Mrs. Emma Hardisty, Lyons, Ind.; Edgar Edington Metcalf, Ill.; Noah Edington, Bloomington, and 12 grandchildren and eight great - grandchildren and one sister Mrs. Sadie Geddis of Doans. She leaves a host of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. She was preceeded in death by two sisters Mrs. Mary Groves and Mrs. Ella Hasler and one brother Noah Williams. 'Aunt Martha' as she was affectionately called was loved by all who knew her. She was a faithful companion, a kind, loving, indulging, and understanding mother, and a true and loyal neighbor and friend. Early in life she united with the Christain church at Taylor Ridge. After moving to Lyons and established their home she transferred her membership to the Church of Chirst at Lyons in 1916 and had been a consistent member throughout the years.


Funeral services were conducted Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock for Mrs. Martha EDINGTON, 83 year-old native of Greene County. The services were conducted at the Church of Christ in Lyons, with Rev. Voris CARPENTER officiating. Burial was in Walnut Grove Cemetery

Mrs. EDINGTON passed away at 3:45 o'clock Monday afternoon at her home in Lyons following an illness of three years. She was the daughter of James and Margaret Storms WILLIAMS and was born near Koleen. She had made her home in Lyons for about 30 years.

She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Emma HARDISTY, of Lyons; two sons, Noah, of Bloomington and Edgar, of Metcalf, Illinois; one sister, Mrs. Sadie GEDDES, of Doans; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Leonard Thomas EDINGTON, in 1938, and by three daughters and a brother.

Jenkins & Sons funeral directors were in charge of the funeral arrangements.
