Joyce Evelyn Strickland, 77, of Lucasville, died Sunday, November 24, 2013, at her residence.
She was born September 2, 1936, in Piketon, a daughter of the late Albert Beasley and Allie Rowe Delay.
Joyce was a dedicated and inspirational homemaker, wife, mother, granny, sibling, and friend. She had a way of lifting your spirits and would always say, "Why worry when you can pray?" She had faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, a great sense of humor, and a big heart. She will be missed and cherished by all. May she rest in the arms of Jesus and look over us forever. We love you.
She is survived by three sons, Ronald (Robyn) Strickland of Lucasville, Rodney (Cynthia) Strickland of South Shore, and Bruce Strickland of Lucasville; five daughters, Linda (Terry) Kirkendall, Anita (Mark) Adams, Kelly (Bob) Lute, Leigh Anne (Kevin) Abner, and Patsy (Mickey) Prose, all of Lucasville; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Oogie Delay of Lucasville; and four sisters, Anna Edmister of Columbus, Carolyn Russell of West Jefferson, Vernita Sigler of Chillicothe and Phyllis Ramsey of Lucasville.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harry Strickland, July 11, 1991; one son, Monte Strickland; two brothers, Joe Pratt and Orice Delay; and three sisters, Myrtle Chandler, Henrietta Castle, and Bobbie Lou Garrard.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Friday, November 29, 2013, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Philip Carver officiating.
Burial followed in Rushtown Cemetery.
Friends called Wednesday and an hour before the funeral Friday at the funeral home.
