PHILIPSBURG - Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Boozer-Heath Funeral Home, Philipsburg, for Bernice M. (Shoff) Kolbe, 80, of Pleasant Hill, rural Philipsburg, and formerly a resident of Madera, who died Monday, Oct. 28, 2002, at 1:30 a.m. at her residence.

The Rev. John T. Dill will officiate.

Interment will be at Crown Crest Cemetery, Hyde, beside her husband, Robert, the love of her life.

Friends will be received from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born July 16, 1922, in West Decatur, she was a daughter of Charles W. and Lula B. (McDowell) Thompson.

She attended the New Life Center, Philipsburg, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Houtzdale.

She enjoyed cooking, canning and listening to country music.

Mrs. Kolbe was a homemaker while residing in Madera. Upon returning to Philipsburg, she was employed by various businesses in the Philipsburg area, retiring as a retail clerk from True Value Hardware.

On Sept. 26, 1942, in Clearfield, she wed Robert Edward Shoff, who died July 26, 1961. She then wed Boyd Kolbe, who died Nov. 25, 1992.

She is survived by a daughter, Carol Ruden and her husband, Gary, of Philipsburg; two sons, Robert Shoff and his wife, Louise, of Anthem, Ariz., and Wesley Shoff and his wife, Bethany, of Jasper, Ala. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Allison Brakatselos of Houston, Texas, Kelly Capatch of Hollidaysburg and Hugh and Nathaniel Shoff of Jasper; three great-grandchildren, Marlena and Chase Capatch of Hollidaysburg and Evan Brakatselos of Houston.

In addition, she is survived by a sister, Muriel Kyler of West Decatur; and a brother, Ralph Thompson and his wife, Janice, of Philipsburg.

Mrs. Kolbe was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; eight brothers, Robert, Fred "Hick," Roland, Burtis, Leo, Charles "Chuck," Leroy "Gee" and Clinton Thompson; and two sisters, Irene Watkins and Doris Hafer.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Nittany Hospice/Clearfield Foundation for Health, P.O. Box 992, Clearfield, PA 16830 or Clearfield County Area Agency on Aging, P.O. Box 550, Clearfield, PA 16830.
