STOY, Ill. -- Ruth Osborn Newlin, 72, of Stoy died at 11 a.m. Tuesday in her residence. She was born April 8, 1917, in Bible Grove to Alonzo Osborn and Elsie Roberts Osborn. Her husband, Ova Newlin, died March 23, 1982. Survivors include three daughters, Patricia Pethtel, Esther Kemper and Carolyn Dennis of Robinson; two sons, Harlan Newlin of Hutsonville and James Newlin of Flat Rock; seven brothers, Bill Osborn of Beecher City and Cecil Osborn, Richard Osborn, Harold Osborn, Jessie Osborn, Dale Osborn and Harry Osborn of Mattoon; three sisters, Nellie Prahl of Gays, Eveline Waymoth of Mattoon and Thelma Blankenship of Albany, Ore.; 20 grandchildren; and 33 great-grandchildren. Services are 11 a.m. Friday in Goodwine Funeral Home at Robinson, with Rick Catt officiating. Burial is in Hardinville Cemetery. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. today and before services Friday.
