Dale A. Osborne, age 73, of Mattoon, passed away at 11:35 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2000, at the Sunbridge Care and Rehabilitation Center. The funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the Schilling Funeral Home with the Reverend Ed Stephens officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Bethel Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time on Tuesday afternoon at the funeral home.

Dale was born in Mattoon on May 13, 1926, a son of Alonzo and Elsie Roberts Osborne. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, two sisters, one grandson and one great-grandson.

Survivors include two sons, Ron Osborne and wife Sandra of rural Lerna and Joe Osborne and wife Roxanne of Mattoon; one daughter, Sue Graven and husband Larry of Sullivan; four brothers, Richard Osborne, Harold "Peanut" Osborne and wife Myrtle, Jessie Osborne and wife Kate, and Harry Osborn and wife Charlene, all of Mattoon; three sisters, Nellie Prahl and Eveline Towle Waymoth, both of Mattoon and Thelma Blankenship and husband Clifford of California; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, and special friend, Elsie Mason of Mattoon.

Mr. Osborne retired as a construction worker from Walker Construction Co. He was a member of the AFLCIO Local 171. Dale was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
