MATTOON - Harry Eugene Osborn, age 78, of Mattoon, IL, passed away at 11:30 p.m., Sunday, December 27, 2009, at his residence.

The funeral service in honor of his life will be held at 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home, 1200 Wabash Avenue, Mattoon, IL, 61938, with Pastor Kevin Wolfe and Pastor Layne Lashley officiating. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home. Interment will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Mattoon, IL.

Mr. Osborn was born July 2, 1931, in Effingham, IL, the son of Alonzo and Elsie (Roberts) Osborn. He married Charlene West on March 8, 1948 in Mattoon, IL.

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Charlene; two daughters, Janet Worthey and husband Tom of Mattoon, IL, and Lennie Evermon and husband Stan of Mattoon, IL; four grandchildren, Darren Worthey and wife Heather of Sanford, FL, Kevin Worthey and wife Lori of Mattoon, IL, Andy Butt and special friend Carol of Gays, IL, and Kyle Worthey and wife Angie of Neoga, IL; his brother, Harold "Peanut" Osborn of Mattoon, IL; nine great-grandchildren, Christy Worthey, Shawna Worthey, Sammi Worthey, Hunter Worthey, Rachael Handley, Kayli Worthey, Peyton Worthey, Kira Worthey, and Tyler Worthey; one great-great grandson, William Hatter; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by two special daughters, Joyce Hawkins and husband Jim of Mattoon, IL, and Susie Craig and husband Kenny of Janesville, IL; and a special granddaughter, Erin Bunyard of Mattoon, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Mr. Osborn had worked for Kuehne Manufacturing and later retired from Superior in 1982. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Gays, IL. He was an avid hunter and enjoyed camping, playing his guitar and singing. He also enjoyed raising his hunting dogs and was a member of the Coon Hunters Association of Charleston, IL. He truly enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
