Josiah Stanley, aged 81 years. 8 months and 11 days, passed away Saturday evening at 9 o'clock at his home, about five miles east of town, on the farm that is known as the old John Marsh farm.
Mr. Stanley was born in Anderson, Madison county, Indiana, July 11,1840, and was married to Martha J. Clem June 18, 1861. Mr. and Mrs. Stanley came to Montgomery county in 1884 and settled on a farm about five miles west of town, later moving to Bolton. About seventeen years ago, they settled on a farm five miles east of town, where they have resided since that time. The deceased was favorably known by scores of people, who highly valued his friendship. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, five daughters, Mrs. Mary Poor of Wayside, Mrs. Flora Caldwell of Elk City, Mrs. Lena Clemmer and Mrs. Besse Smith, who live west of town, and Mrs. Jessie Brumfield of this city, and one son, Charles, of the home address. Funeral services were conducted this morning at 10 o'clock at the family home by Rev. F. L. Pettit of the First Christian church. The body was laid to rest in the Harrisonville cemetery at Bolton. The services were attended by a large circle of friends.
