Flora G. Reid, 76 Dies Sunday Noon
Mrs. Flora G. Reid, 1716 North Tenth street, died Sunday noon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dave Bennett, 515 Clark street, Cherryvale. She was 76 years of age.
The deceased was born Sept. 18, 1875, near Anderson, Indiana, the daughter of Josiah and Martha Stanley. At the age of 10, she moved with her parents to Kansas and the family settled on a farm north-east of Independence.
She was united in marriage on Sept. 16, 1892, to Calvin Caldwell who preceded her in death on March 13, 1899.
Three children were born of this union, Effie Bennett, Cherryvale, Mrs. Iva Kelly, wife of Alva Kelly, city, Montgomery county commissioner, and Walter Caldwell, rural Independence.
In 1924, the deceased was united in marriage to Joseph H. Reid, who preceded her in death in 1928.
Mrs. Reid was a resident of Independence and vicinity since coming to this area when a young girl.
Besides a son and two daughters, she is survived by three sisters, Lena Clemmer and Bessie Smith, Independence, and Jessie Brumfield, Tulsa, Okla., ten grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and four sisters.
Mrs. Reid was a life long member of the Baptist church.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday a 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Potts Funeral home, with the Rev. Abe Neufeld, Berean Baptist church pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the Harrisonville Cemetery southwest of Independence.
