COLUMBIA - Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie C. Wiseman, 82, of Columbia, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2004, at the chapel of Greenlawn Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Chavis officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held this Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Portsbridge Hospice, 109 West Hospital Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169. Condolences may be sent to www.mem.com. Greenlawn Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Wiseman died Monday, January 12, 2004. Born March 18, 1921, in Orangeburg, she was a daughter of the late Clifton Chavis and Hattie Spires Chavis. She had retired from Belk's Plantation Room.
Surviving are her son, Levi Abbott (Barbara) of Columbia; daughter, Elaine Rollison of Swansea; brother, C.H. Chavis of Gaston; sisters, Sadie Brown of Orangeburg, Blanche Williamson, Louise Chavis and Lessie Williams, all of Neeses, and Lurlin Williams of North; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and a numerous amount of nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents; husband, Kenneth Wiseman and first husband, Billy Abbott; daughter, Betty Bond; brothers, Rozell Chavis and Bennie Chavis; sisters, Leola Bolin and Margie Bolin.
