Columbia - Services for Bennie "Squirrel" Preston Chavis, 83, of 2893 Forest Drive, will be held at 3 p.m. today, March 21, 2003 at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home chapel with burial in Mt. Beulah Pentecostal Holiness Church Cemetery. The Rev. Henry Chavis will officiate. Mr. Chavis died March 19, 2003. Born in Orangeburg County, he was a son of the late Clifton and Hattie Spires Chavis. He was a retired cab driver. Surviving are his wife, Gertrude Williamson Chavis of Columbia; daughters, Brenda C. Myers of Matawan, N.J. and Patsy Ann Gillett of Columbia; sisters, Blanche Williamson, Louise Chavis, Lessie Williams and Sadie Browne, all of Neeses, Lurline Williams of Dunn, N.C. and Bessie Wiseman of Columbia; brother, C.H.
