The Bradford Republican Obit: 2/8/1928
" George Delbert Forbes, son of Joseph and Delilah Forbes pioneer residents of Stark County was born Dec. 30, 1866, in Osceola Township and passed away at Peoria at the age of 61 years and 23 days. Two years ago he suffered a slight stroke, his health continuing to fail due to kidney and heart trouble until the end came, and his Maker received him in that place where there is no suffering. At the age of twenty he was united in marriage with Miss Ida May McCollum, to which union five children were born, Mrs. Laura Gawroski, Aurora, Mrs. Clara Stange of Bradford, Walter also of Bradford, and twin sons who died in infancy. The wife and mother passed away soon after the birth of the twins, leaving the home beret of a loving mother's care. He kept the home together for several years, then he married Miss Anna Anderson of Canton, Illinois who lived but a few years again leaving him alone. In 1913 he married Miss Corella Sarver of Chillicothe, who with their two small children, LaVerne and Lucille, survive him and are bereft of husband and father.
Besides his wife and children he leaves to mourn his passing , twelve grandchildren, and the following sisters, Mrs.Amy Harris, Remington Indiana; and Mrs Elza Scott, Weldon, Iowa; and one brother Willis W. Forbes, Aurora, Ill., One sister, Mrs. Ella B.Griswold, two brothers, John and Bernard, and one half brother James, preceded him in death many years ago. The remains were brought to the home of his son Walter, Monday evening a week ago. Funeral services were conducted by Rev.T.J.Crapp in the M.E. church at Bradford. Burial was made in the cemetery north of town."
