E. F. Paxton, Father of Mrs, John Jones, Dies

Elisah Franklin Paxton, father of Mrs. John C. Jones, died in an Austin hospital August 14 and was buried the following day in Cherokee. Services were held in the Cherokee Methodist church with Rev, William White of San Saba and Rev. Harral of Cherokee, officiating.
Mr. Paxton was a native of Lexington, Va., andtje son of Brigadier General Elisah Franklin and Elizabeth Paxton of Lexington. He received his education at Washington and Lee University in Lexington and from there went to Chicago, where he spent three years with the stock exchange. From there he came to Texas, where he was engaged in farming and ranching at Cherokee. He married Sarah Cordelia Brown of San Saba in 1887. She died in 1932. He later married her foster sister, Mrs. Florence Brown Menton of Minneapolis, Minn. he was a devoted member of the Methodist church at Cherokee, where he served as superintendent of the Sunday School for 42 years.
