Mrs, Della Jones Services Held
Funeral services were held Monday at 4 p.m. from the Episcopal church of the Messiah for Mrs. Adella (Della) Rogan Jones, who died in Gonzales Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
the Rev. Richard Urban, rector, officiated at the service with burial following in the Masonic ceunder the direction of Seydler-Hill funeral home.
Mrs. Jones, the widow of the late John Curtis Jones, Jr.m was born in Cherokee, San Saba county, on February 8, 1890. She was the daughter of Frank andDarah Cordelia Brown Paxton, natives of Lexington, Vs., and San Saba county.
She came to Gonzales in 1905 to attend high school, living with a great aunt, Mrs.T. M. Harwood for three years. She graduated in 1912 from the Teachers College in Denton and taught in the public schools in San Angelo for a few years before returning to Gonzales to again make her home with Mrs. Harwood. She was teaching in the Gonzales schools at the time of her marriage to Nr. Jones in 1919. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1972.
She also attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College in San Marcos, was a member of the Episcopal Guils, and a member of the National Society of Colonial Dames of America.
Survivors are seven nieces and six nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Frank, John Gallatin and Edgar Brown Paxton.
