Armstrong Woman Dies At Ft. Dodge

Armstrong – Mrs. Robert (May Davis) Dunn, 86, longtime Armstrong area resident, died at 10:10 a.m. today at the Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. She had been ill for five years and suffered a broken hip two months ago. Death was attributed to natural causes.

Mrs. Dunn was born Jan. 30, 1875, in Martin County, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Davis. She received her education in Estherville schools. In April of 1900 she was married to Robert Dunn at Estherville. The couple farmed in Emmet County, south of Armstrong, for 20 years. They retired to Armstrong in 1937. Mr. Dunn died in 1939.

Mrs. Dunn was a lifetime member of the First Methodist Church of Armstrong.

She is survived by a son, Roy of Armstrong, five grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. J.E. Goldsberry of Gruver and Lillian Davis and Mrs. Daisy Worster, both of Estherville.

Two brothers, her parents and husband preceded her in death.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the First Methodist Church in Armstrong, the Rev. Roger Tappmeyer officiating. Interment will be in the Armstrong Grove Cemetery. Slaba Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The body will lie in state from noon Sunday to noon Monday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 30, 1961)
