Mrs. Geo. C. Davis passed away at her home in Estherville, at 2:15 August 15, after an illness of several years.

Isabel Jane Whealy was born Sept. 16, 1852, at Woodstock, Oxford Co., Ontario, Canada. She came with her parents to Iowa in 1864 and settled in Cerro Gordo county. The family moved to Estherville in 1870 and has resided here since.

She taught school for several years in Emmet and Dickinson counties. In 1865 she united with the Methodist church and was an active member throughout her life.

On March 16, 1874, she was married to George C. Davis at Estherville. They engaged in farming until March of 1943 when they retired and moved to Estherville. Mr. Davis passed away April 1, 1940.

Mrs. Davis leaves six children, eleven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She is survived by the following: Mrs. H. F. Wooster, Detroit Lakes, Minn., H.G. Davis of Oelwein, Ia., Mrs. J. J. Felky, Solway, Minn., Mrs. May Dunn, Armstrong, Ia., Mrs. J.E. Goldsberry, Gruver, Ia., Miss Lillian H. Davis, Estherville.

A daughter, Alice, and a son, A.H. Davis, Albin, Wyo., preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the home and at 2 o'clock p.m. at the Methodist church in Estherville. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, August 17, 1944)
