Cynthia Charlotte Roe married George W. Lafayette "Fate" Marsh March 1, 1885. Their children were Oscar Lee 1886, Effie Pearl Marsh born March 31,1891, & Rodie Bertha Marsh born 3-15-1897 (who is my grandmother).

Fate became ill with pneumonia and realizing he was dying, he begged his younger brother, Daniel, to care for his wife and children. Fate couldn't have left his family in more capable hands. He reared three children as his own. It has been said "Uncle Dan was the kindest, most gentle soul one could ever meet". He married Cynthia 1899 and they had 2 children, James and Ira.

After my grandmother married J R Kemp and eventually moved to Louisiana, Uncle Dan and Cynthia followed. They lived the last few years of their lives beside and with my grandparents, and their grandchildren.

Cynthia's parents were Samuel Roe and Amanda C. Wood.

Thanks to family genealogist Mary Davis for valuable research. Her great grandmother, Mary Ellen Marsh, was a sister to Daniel B Marsh and George W Lafayette "Fate" Marsh.
