Oscar was about 9 years old when his father died. His father's dying request was that his younger brother, Daniel B. Marsh, care for his wife and children. Daniel married Cynthia Feb 15, 1899 in New Madrid, Missouri. Daniel insisted Oscar, Effie and Rhodie refer to him as Uncle Dan out of respect for his brother. Uncle Dan and Cynthia had 2 sons, James and Ira.

1920 Oscar is 34 Poinsett Co Ark. and married to Gertrude Sudduth age 20. Also living with him is his half brother, James and brother in law, Eli Sudduth
1923 Oscar's only child, Jerry L Marsh is born.
1930 Census I haven't found him
1935 (according to 1940 census implies residence in Los Angeles California) His first wife Gertrude stayed in California as did his son.
1936 Dec. 24th marriage to Beulah Akin maiden name was Webber. Her first husband Mr Lillard has died. She remarried Mr. Akin. It appears he died as well. On the Census below, their child Dorothy Akin is listed as a step daughter to Oscar Kemp.
1940 Census has Oscar married to Beulah with the following step children: 1.Inez Lillard age 16 2.Annie Lillard, 15 and 3.Dorothy Akin age 8

Funeral rites for Oscar Lee Marsh of Marked Tree were held last Saturday afternoon at William & Murphy Funeral Chapel
The Rev. S. B. McCane effciated. Burial was in the Marked Tree Cemetery with
William & Murphy in charge.
Mr. Marsh died at his home last Thursday. He was 66.
He was a native of Point Pleasant, Missouri, but had lived here for many years.
He leaves his Wife, Beulah Marsh of Marked Tree and one son, Jerry Lee, of California; one sister, Mrs. J. R. Kemp of Oak Grove, La., and seven step-
children, Paul Lillard, of Marked Tree, Wallace Lillard of Kansas City, Mrs. Lee Kirkland of Tyronza; Mrs. T. B. Lee of Paris, Texas; Mrs. Elmer Daggett, Mrs. William Worley, and Mrs. C. A. Young of Marked Tree.
Mrs. J. R. Kemp is Rhodie Bertha Marsh (my grandmother) who married James Robert Kemp 1-1-1917
