Margaret placed her trust in Jesus Christ and His death for her when she was a young child, and served Him unwaveringly all her life. In all my memories of her she was loving and giving, patient, joyful, and grateful.
On April 12, 1950, in Merced, Margaret accepted a blind date with a young Air Force Airman stationed at Castle Air Force Base, a handsome Christian named Clarence Fillmore. They married ten months later, on February 17, 1951. They later went on to have three fine, healthy sons: Robert Zane, Steven, and Jeffrey. They were married for over 61 years and set a shining example of a marriage based on mutual love and gratitude.
Clarence and Margaret and the boys moved all over the world, as Clarence pursued a career in the Air Force. His last assignment was at Biloxi Mississippi, where they settled. Clarence retired from the Air Force there as a Master SGT. Their youngest son, Jeff, stayed in the area, serving as a pastor of a local church, where Clarence and Margaret loved to go to hear their son preach. Margaret was so proud of all three sons and loved them and their wives, and all her grandchildren. She was beloved by all who knew her.
Margaret went to be with her Jesus on June 3, 2013, at age 80. She was a resident of Biloxi.
Clarence preceded Margaret in death by only seven months. They are now together again with the Lord, where there is no more sorrow, or death, or parting. She is survived by her three children: Robert Fillmore and his wife Val, of Lutton, England, Steve Fillmore and his wife Wendy, of Norfolk, Virginia, and Jeffrey Fillmore and his wife Donna, of Biloxi; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at Northside Assembly of God Church, Biloxi, where friends could visit one hour prior to the service. In recognition of Clarence's years of faithful military service, he and Margaret were laid to rest with honor at the Biloxi National Cemetery in a private burial.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Outreach Ministry at Northside Assembly of God Church, 14901 LeMoyne Blvd, Biloxi, MS 39532
or to The Gideons International, for Bibles to be placed in Margaret's memory. That address is:
