WILLIAM R. BOSWELL
William Paul Boswell, the ninth child of William Henry and Mary Susie Flanagan Boswell, was born March 27, 1916, in Harrison County in Missouri, and died Sept. 2, 1995, at the Decatur County Hospital to Leon. He was 79.
He married Lois McDaniel of Blythdale, Mo., on Jan 24, 1941, at Bethany, Mo. The couple made their home at Lone Tree for one year, then moved to a farm in Decatur County, then to North Hamson County in Missoun where they lived for two years. Mr. and Mrs. Boswell then moved to the family farm west of Davis City. They lived there until they retired and moved to Lamoni in 1982.
The couple were the parents of five children, Conrad, Gary, Joyce, Dan, and Terry.
Mr Boswell was baptized into Christ at a young age. He liked to go fishing and attend auctions. He often came home with antique hand tools and farm toys for his collections.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Roy, Melvin "Doc", Rufus, Norm, and Alfred Boswell; two sisters, May Barth and Alice Chown; four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Boswell is survived by his wife; five children, Conrad and Helen Boswell of Oklahoma City, Okla., Gary and Mary Boswell and Terry and Pabalene Boswell all of Lamoni, Joyce and David Sams of Osceola, and Dan and Nancy Boswell of Davis City;
...14 grandchildren, Brenda Cornelius, Theresa, Larry and Lee Boswell, Karla L'Hommedieu, Timothy Boswell, Cary Williams Benjamin Boswell, Melissa and Heather Sams, Mark and Scott Boswell, and Brance and Knsty Boswell;
...13 great-grandchildren; sister, Roma Burr of Iowa City, sis-sters-in-law, Vava Boswell of Lamoni, Pauline Boswell of Kansas City, Mo., and Marjorie Boswell Turpin of Lamoni, a host of nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Boswell were held Sept 5 at Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home in Lamoni, Pastor Brian Hardee and Tim Boswell officiating. Charletta Durell was pianist and she joined Mike Durell as they sang "Amazing Grace" and "How Great Thou Art." Kristy Boswell, violinist, played "In the Garden." Casket bearers were Conrad Boswell, Dan Boswell, Gary Boswell, Terry Boswell, David Sams, and Larry Sellers. Interment was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Lamoni.
