1.) Alice Clara Chown, daughter of William Henry and Mary Susie Boswell, was born March 14, 1911, in Harrison County, Missouri. She departed this life September 10, 1978, at Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. She was 67 years, 5 months, and 27 days of age.

She grew up on a farm and attended school in Harrison County, Missouri. Alice was united in marriage to Verle Richard Chown on April 18, 1931. To this union was born one son, Robert Verle.

After their marriage, Alice and Verle engaged in farming near Lone Tree, Iowa, and later moved to a farm in the Lamoni area. After retirement a few years ago, they moved to their present home in Lamoni.

Alice enjoyed her family to the fullest. She had many interests in life, her friends, relatives, and she enjoyed doing many crafts with her friends.

After moving to the Lamoni area, she was baptized into the R.L.D.S. Church, which she loved and served faithfully.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Roy and Norm.

Surviving are her husband, Verle; son, Robert, and daughter-in-law, Beverly; three grandchildren, Jerrry, Terry, and Larry of Malvern, Iowa; two sisters, May Barth of Lamoni and Roma Burr of Lone Tree, Iowa; four brothers, Alfred, Melvin (Doc), Rufus and William all from the Lamoni area; sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.

Services were under the direction of the Lamoni Funeral Home at the Lamoni RLDS Church. Officiating ministers were Elders Leonard Boswell and Robert Hynden. Burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery.

2.) Alice Clara Chown, 67, died September 10 in Des Moines. Services were held September 12 from the Lamoni RLDS Church at 2 p.m. Officiating Elders were Leonard Boswell and Robert B. Hynden.
