Verle was born at Muscatine, Iowa March 11, 1899, and died July 28, 1984, at the age of 85 years, 4 months, and 17 days.

In his younger life, Verle trucked and farmed near Conesville, Ia. On April 18, 1931, he was united in marriage to Alice Clara Boswell. To this union, one son was born in 1933.

In 1943 Verle and his family moved to a farm north of Lamoni, where he farmed until his retirement in 1973. Shortly after retirement, he and Alice moved into the town of Lamoni.

In 1978 his wife was taken from this life with cancer. In 1981, Verie's health failed him, and after a brief stay in the Leon Hospital he resided at Lamoni Manor until his death.

Verle was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother; his wife; 2 brothers, and 4 sisters.

Verle is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Bob and Beverly Chown; 3 grandchildren, Jerry, Terry and Larry; Jerry's wife; 1 great-grandchild, and a host of nephews, nieces, good friends, and neighbors.

Funeral services, under the direction of the Lamoni Funeral Home, were held Tuesday, July 31, at 11 a.m. from the funeral home. Officiating were Elders Bill Ballantyne, and Robert B. Hynden. Burial was a Rose Hill Cemetery in Lamoni.
