Rev. Zollie Bill McAlpin

Rev. Zollie Bill McAlpin. 85, of Mendenhall died Monday, Aug. 6,. at Magee General Hospital.

The Simpson County native was a member of First Baptist Church of Magee. He was a retired minister, having been in the ministry for 50 years. He also served in education as both a teacher and administrator for 44 years.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 8 at First Baptist Church of Magee with Rev. O.C. Ladnier, Rev. Barney Padgett, Rev. Paul Padgett officiating. Colonial Chapel of Magee was in charge of arrangements, and burial was at Sharon Cemetery.

Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Novis Jones of Brandon, Mrs. Nevis Womack of Mendenhall, Mrs. Bonnie Bell Womack of Mendenhall, Mrs. Betty Jean Ratliff of Petal; three sons, L.C. McAlpin of Magee; Z.B. McAlpin of Florence, Arthur C. McAlpin of Magee; four brothers, W. Drummond McAlpin of Mt. Olive, Gabriel G. McAlpin of Magee, Ferrall M. McAlpin of Magee, Newell N. McAlpin of Jackson; two sisters, Mrs. Veatrice Gardner of Mt. Olive, Mrs. Etna Sullivan of Magee; eighteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
