John married Mary Elizabeth Perrin and came with her family to the Plano/Allen area of Texas, where John became the first doctor in Plano.

Their daughter Ruth Ament Huffman married Joseph William Baines. Their daughter Rebekah Baines married Samuel Ealy Johnson, Jr., and they are the parents of Lyndon Baines Johnson, the 36th President of the United States.
