Eugene N. "Gene" Head, 66, of 7820 Curdsville-Delaware Road, Owensboro, died Friday, November 24, 1995, at Hermitage Manor. He was born in Daviess County and was retired from the Daviess County Road Department, where he had worked as a heavy equipment operator for 17 years. He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean War, and was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and the American Legion Post in Calhoun. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Noel, who died in 1968. Survivors include a son, David Eugene Head of Owensboro; four daughters, Patricia Ann Head Millay and Susan Head Fulkerson, both of Owensboro, Carol Head Rowe of Nashville, TN, and Kristi Head Riherd of Murray; 11 grandchildren; longtime friend and companion, LaVergne Simmons of Bowling Green; two brothers, Robert L. Head of West Louisville and Hayden E. Head of Owensboro; and a sister, Ella Bea West of Beech Grove. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Curdsville. Burial will be in St. Raphael Cemetery. Visitation is from 1-8 p.m. Sunday and 8-9:30 a.m. Monday at Haley-McGinnis Funeral Home in Owensboro. Prayers will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
