On September 20, 1866 she married Jeremiah T. Chapline (1818-1876) in Sharpsburg, Maryland. They had four sons, Charles H. Chaplain (1868-1904), Samuel T Chaplain(1869 - 1952), Luther Edward Chaplain(1871-1946), and Francis M Chaplain(1876–?).
Twin sister, Matilda, had married William Frew in 1869 and had two children. In 1876 both Matilda Frew and Jeremiah Chapline died. On October 1, 1877 Malinda married her brother-in-law, William Frew. They had five daughters, Cora Ellen Lavely (1877-1971), Bertha Frew (1880-1894), Malinda Frew(1883-1900), Elsie Viola Widmyer(1885-1967), and Sue Ellen Mountain (1887-1980).
By 1880 the Frews had moved to Antis, Blair County, Pa and in 1882 moved to Johnstown 8th Ward, Cambria County, Pa.
Malinda died of Typhoid Pneumonia on December 1, 1909.
