He was born on October 30, 1911 in Willow Springs Township, Wisconsin, the son of George A. and Nellie T. (Brisehan) Armstrong. He was married to the former Delores Aurit-Foley on August 10, 1968, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Darlington. He farmed in the Willow Springs Township prior to working as a carpenter. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Darlington.
Survivors are his wife, Delores; nine stepchildren, Richard W. (Mary Kay) Foley of Mineral Point, Charles R. (Diane) Foley of Chehalis, Washington, Norman P. (Janice) Foley of Darlington, Marcia (Larry) Palzkill of Mineral Point, Lyle J. (Kathy) Foley of Montfort, Wisconsin, Marci A. (John) Briggs of Monroe, Marlene R. (Leon) Schrenk of Monroe, Michael J. (Betty) Foley of McKenry, Illinois, Marily T. (Richard) Ballard of Monroe; 38 step grandchildren; 18 step great grandchildren; a brother, Raymond (Vera) Armstrong of Darlington; two sisters, Myrtle Whalen and Gladys Taylor, both of Darlington; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three stepchildren Marie Moody, David and Mary Alice Foley; four brothers, Harland, Walter, Willie and John Armstrong; and three sisters, Clara Armstrong, Eva Anschutz and Mabel Whalen.
Mass of resurrection will be 11:30 am on Wednesday, December 14, 1994 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Darlington with Fathers Tom Coyle and Gibbs Clauder officiating. Burial will be at St. Peter's Catholic Church Cemetery, Elk Grove Township. Friends may call from 3 to 9 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 1994 at the Steil Camacho Funeral Home, Darlington where a rosary service will be at 8 pm.
