Mrs. W. R. SMITH PASSES AWAY SUNDAY
Mrs. Ellen Smith, age 87 died Sunday in a Taylor Hospital, where she had been critically ill for several days. She was born in Merrilltown, Texas, October 02, 1875, and was a member of the McNeese family, of which there are now two survivors, a brother, Charlie McNeese, and a sister, Mrs. Mercer (Amanda) Archer.
On December 4, 1895, she was married to William Russell Smith. He died May 18, 1955. He was a prominent farmer and rancher of this community. Mrs. Smith moved into town, west side, several years ago. She leaves one son and four daughters: Charlie Smith of Austin; Mrs. Lucille Cluck, Mrs. Nelda Davis, and Mrs. Eula Dedear of Round Rock, and Mrs. Julia Wright, Downey, California; also seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Baptist Church.
Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday in Condra Chapel with the Rev. William M. Scott officiating, and burial was in Capital Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers were Raymond Davis, Frank Myrick, Wilbur Myrick, Russell Smith, Leroy Archer and Eugene Archer.
