Funeral services for Lewis Washington Franklin, 81 years of age, were held Monday, May 24 at 2:30 p.m. from the Good Hope Baptist Church with Rev. J. L. Piercy of Glasgow in charge, assisted by Rev. J. A. McDowell. Burial was in the church cemetery. Mr. Franklin died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Quisenberry near Saloma Sunday morning, May 23, at 3 o'clock a.m. He had been in ill health for several months. He professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Morton's Chapel Methodist Church at Saloma. He united in marriage to Miss Celia Mae Morris who preceded him 15 years ago. To this union 5 sons and 6 daughters were born. Surviving: Mrs. Chester Quisenberry, Mrs. Henry Druin, Mrs. Charlie Druin, all of Taylor County, Mrs. Mary E. Peters of Richmond, Ind., also 27 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Norman Franklin, D. L. Quisenberry, Bobby Druin, J. W. Franklin, Omer Lewis Franklin, and Belmont Franklin.

Mrs. Mary Franklin Peters, 71, formerly of the Saloma Community in Taylor County, daughter of the late Mr. L. W. Franklin and Mrs. Celia Mae Morris, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky June 13, 1897. She died Monday afternoon, November 18th at the Reid Hospital in Richmond, Indiana. She had lived in Indiana for the past twenty-seven years. She professed faith in Christ early in life and was a member of the Christian Church. She united in marriage to Mr. Finley Peters, Sr. August 3, 1916 and tot his unoon 6 sons and 4 daughters were born. Surviving are: Lucien Peters of St. Petersburg, Florida; William Grayden Peters of Richmond, Indiana; Finley Peters, Jr. and Mrs. Frances Miller both of Centerville, Indiana; Mrs. Kathleen Hall of Greensburg, Indiana; Mrs. Virginia Goodwin of Whitewater, Indiana; and Mrs. Elizabeth Johnson, of Economy, Indiana. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Henry Druin, Route 3, and Mrs. Charlie Druin of Star Route, Campbellsville. Funeral services were Thursday afternoon, November 21st in the Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home with the Rev. Earl Pike officiating. Burial was in Saloma Cemetery. Pallbearers were Hovie Noe, Murrell Hazard, Piercy Hill, Hugh Hash, Carl Philpott, and Everette Isaacs.
