Age 93, died Saturday, April 27, 1991 at Bethany Home. She was born January 31, 1898 in Giltedge, Montana the daughter of Fred W. and Elcy (Dundom) Sherman. She married Severt Lars Nielsen in Lewiston, Montana on December 17, 1917. He preceded her in death on August 28, 1961. Nellie was a member of the St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. She had been a member of the Samaritan Rebekah Lodge No. 127, Waupaca. She was a charter member of the Ladies V.F.W. Auxiliary to the V.F.W. Post No. 1037, Waupaca. She had also been an active member of the Women’s Relief Corps. Survivors include six sons: James (Helen) Nielsen, Taft, Texas; Everett (Germaine) Nielsen, Neenah; Kenneth (Ruby) Nielsen, Waupaca; La Verne (Gracie) Nielsen, Pharr, Texas; Thomas (Pauline) Nielsen, Granada Hills, California; Eugene (Mary Pat) Nielsen, Downers Grove, Illinois; five daughters: Cora, Mrs. Richard Santos, Anderson, California; Nora Bucks, San Jose, California; Lucille Plunkett, Rockport, Maine (Massachusetts); Wanda, Mrs. Russell May, Marion; Patricia, Mrs. Steve Luft, Waupaca. 37 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, and four great great-grandchildren also survive along with a brother, John Sherman, San Diego, California. Nellie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Severt; two sons, two grandsons, six brothers and two sisters. The funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 2, 1991 at 11 a.m. from St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, Waupaca, with Father Orville Catuso officiating. Friends may call at the Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday. A Rebekah Lodge service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, is in charge of arrangements.
