The body of Corporal Frederick S. Nielsen will arrive in Waupaca at 12:31 Wednesday morning on the last lap of the journey from its overseas burial place in the United States military cemetery in India.
Corporal Nielsen, who enlisted with the Army Air Forces in Nov 1942, was killed in action on 22 Jun 1944, in India.
He was born 3 Dec 1920, in Hancock, WI, and resided in Waupaca since he was an infant. He graduated from Waupaca High School with the class of 1939.
He is survived by his parents, Mr and Mrs Servert Nielsen; six brothers, James, West Allis; Everett, Appleton; Sergeant Kenneth, Milwaukee; Private LaVerne, Tokyo, Japan; Private Thomas, Ft Benning, GA; and Eugene, at home; five sisters, Mrs Frank Bucks, Chicago; Mrs Richard Santos, Hayward, CA; Miss Lucille, Milwaukee; and Wanda and Patricia, at home.
Representatives of the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion will form a military escort at the depot and accompany the body to the Holly Funeral Home, Waupaca, where services will be conducted at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon by the Rev A.S. Petersen, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Waupaca.
Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, Waupaca.
Friends may call at the funeral home from Wednesday morning until the time of services.
