About 1903 the families Oldenburger and Ungersma moved to the southwestern part of Montana, Gallatin County, Manhattan, not far away from the also very tiny Dutch settlement Holland, later on called Amsterdam.
On 21 November 1917 Effie Ungersma, 22 years aged, married in Manhattan, Gallatin County, Montana to the eight year older Jacob Terpstra.
In October 1918 they farm near Anceney, about 10 miles southwest of Amsterdam-Churchill, when their first child, Ernest, was born. In the beginning of 1920 they live in Gallatin County too. Then they moved to Iowa.
