THE ST. FRANCIS HERALD, St. Francis, Kansas
Thursday, September 26, 1940
Phyllis Lorraine Miller, young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Miller, died Sunday, September 22, 1940. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. David Vogler at the Assembly of God Church Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial was in the St. Francis Cemetery. The following obituary was read at the services:
Phyllis Lorraine Miller came to be with us November 7, 1932, here in St. Francis. She remained with us until she was taken home to be with Christ in the early morning hours, Sunday, September, 22, 1940, at the age of 7 years, 10 months, and 14 days, leaving a very vacant place in our home and in our hearts.
Two brothers, Leroy and Keith and one sister, Betty Lou preceded her in death. Surviving are her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Miller; three brothers, Harold, Larry and Charles; four grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Browning of St. Francis and Mr. and Mrs. George Stephenson of Imperial, Nebraska; several uncles, aunts and cousins, and many friends.
She slipped her hand in God's one day,
I saw her smile. She went away,
To climb with God the heavenly steep.
I bowed my head in grief to weep.
Naught could I say nor yet complain.
God loved her too, yes, that was plain.
'Twas then I knew that it must be,
My girl belonged to God and me.
