Found in The State 15 July 1903: Many friends and relatives were saddened last night to hear that Mrs. J. Caldwell Robertson had died suddenly at Hendersonville, N. C., where she has been spending the summer. Though she has been in delicate health for several years, her condition has not been alarming of late and her death was unexpected. The sad news reached the city last night and was a shock to her brothers and sisters. The funeral arrangements had not been made last night, but will be announced tomorrow. Mrs. Robertson was Miss Fannie McCreery, eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. T. A. McCreery, and was 38 years old. She was one of the most beautiful young women of Columbia and was admired and beloved by hundreds of friends in South Carolina. She was married about 1890 and her husband and three little daughters survive her-Olive, Marjorie and Elizabeth. Mrs. Robertson's brothers and sisters are Messrs. R. A. and J. G. McCreery, Mrs. John T. Melton and Mrs. E. L. Wingfield of Columbia and Mrs. Mattison of Rhode Island. During her long illness she bore her suffering with great fortitude and Christian spirit. Her devotion to her home was beautiful and the sorrow of the family will be shared by many who admire her gentle Christian spirit.
