From family oral history of Mary Ellen Bader Louis flew several missions in W.W.II. He flew 22 non-stop missions serving as a turret gunner in the South Pacific theater. He ended up hospitalized in a VA hospital and was eventually transferred to the hospital at Fort Lyon, Colorado. He was the first W.W.II solider admitted at Ft. Lyon, on his way to the hospital he rode through Colorado Springs, Colorado. Recognizing the city he jumped the train to go visit Bertha Bader.

Two boulder men in sensational Hong Kong bombing flew from Philippines in lead of fifth air force attack.
5th air force, Philippines two boulder aerial gunners recently flew in the first island based raid on the Chinese mainland when their Jolly Roger liberator outfit led the 5th air force from the Philippines in a sensational bombing of Hong Kong.
They were staff sergeant Louis Bader, 19, son of Mr. And Mrs. Fred a. Bader, 2326 Goss st. and staff sergeant Donald courtier 20, 1 son of Mr. And Mrs. Harris courtier 1818 walnut st.
Climaxing a 2 1/2 year northwestward drive out of Australia through the south seas the jolly Rogers, oldest b-24 organization in the pacific, dumped half-ton dock busters on south china's greatest port blasting it to shambles.
Making the trip without fighter escort, courtier, Bader and their air mates knocked out 12,500 tons of shipping to further reduce the dwindling Jap navy and left the great kewloon drydocks and navy yards in flaming ruins. They put an amazing 90 per cent of their bombs in the target.
Other installations they wiped out were building ways, marine machine shops and miles of warehouses and wharfage.
The shipping knockout boosted the jolly Rogers destruction total to a half million tons while the raid itself added another "first" to the famous outfits string of opening daylight blows, including rabaul, the admiralties, Halmahera, the Philippines.
Bader has flown 30 combat missions totaling 200 hours while coutier has participated in 20 bombings with a total of 122 combat hours.
