Marietta was born May 18, 1931, in Dodge County, to Henry and Catherine (Wittrock) Janning. Marietta attended school in Blooming Prairie. On June 27, 1950, she married Daniel Braun at St. Columbanus Catholic Church in Blooming Prairie. In addition to being a housewife, Marietta worked at Libby's for 20 years, worked as a kitchen helper at the high school and also as a waitress at the Pine Room.
She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Sacred Heart Rosary Council. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, gardening, golf, playing cards, bingo, quilting, antiquing and puzzles.
Marietta was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gary, six brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Daniel Braun, Adams; sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Jane Braun, St. Paul; Carol Braun, Stewartville; Kevin and Lori Braun, Goodyear, Ariz.; daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Rod Miller, LeRoy; and Laurie and Jerry Reich, Rochester; grandchildren, Becky, Holly, Natalie, Ashley, Trevor, Brandy, Nick, Jodi, Kelly, Katie and Sarah; 13 great-grandchildren; a brother, Herbert Janning, Austin; and nieces and nephews.
A memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m, Wednesday, Sept. 19, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams, with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Adams. Visitation will be held at the church for one hour before the service. There will be a 9:45 a.m. rosary service at the church Wednesday.
Adams Funeral Home is in charge of services.
Memorials may be made to the Sacred Heart Catholic School.
