Valeria Elizabeth Rauen, age 84, of Olathe, Colo. formerly of Stacyville, Iowa died Wednesday, March 16, 2005 at her home in Olathe, Colo.
She was born November 21, 1920 in Halbur, Iowa to Henry and Katherine (Wittrock) Janning. She attended school in the Halbur/Carroll, Iowa area. She was married to John Joseph Rauen on October 14, 1942, in Minnesota and they farmed in the Johnsburg area. In 1982 they moved to Stacyville, Iowa. Valeria was a home maker who enjoyed baking and she was also an avid gardener with roses being her favorite flower. Following her husband's death in 2000, Valeria moved to Olathe, Colo. to be near her family.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; James (Cathy Jo) Rauen of Olathe, Colo.; daughter and son-in-law; Kathryn (Richard) Engle, Brighton, Colo.; five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; brother, Herbert Janning, Austin.; sister, Marietta Braun, Adams, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, son Kenneth, five brothers and four sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at 11 a.m. at St. Johns Catholic Church in Johnsburg, Minn. with Father James Seitz officiating. Interment will be in the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery in Johnsburg. Visitation will be held at the Adams Funeral Home on Monday from 4-8 p.m. with a 5 p.m. rosary service and on Tuesday one hour before the service.
Organist will be Joyce Edland.
Casket bearers will be: Lester Heller, Dean Tracy, Mike Mullenbach, Steve Heller, Dale Tracy and Jerry Mullenbach.
