He was born 4 Mar 1908 in Charleston, Wasatch, Utah the son of George W. and Sarah Sophia Winterton Simmons., the tenth of eleven children.
He married Idona Nielson 16 Apr 1931 in Heber City, Utah. Their marraige was later solmenized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorcec. He married Alice Linda Cheney Elkins 21 Apr 1972 in Elko, Nevada.
Bill was a active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He worked as a farmer and rancher all his life. As a Holstein dairy farmer his cattle were high quality, top producers. He also worked in the Park City Mines. In his later years he worked for the U.S. Forest Service. He served on the board of directors for the Federal Land Bank; was president of the Charleston Water Conservancy District when it was organized.
Bill enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing, and was an excellent marksman. He was an expert horseman, and raised registered quarter horses as a member of the AQHA. He was well liked and respected by those who worked with him, as well as family and friends.
Survivors include ten children, Leola LaRue Gothberg Kreek, Rhea Jean Johnson, Wilma Von (Linden) Maxfield, Pauline Peterson, Sheron William Simmons, Sheral Ann (Ted) Taylor, Joyce (Dale) Giles, Karl DeLynn (Judy) Simmons, Jolene (Ronald) Cox, Craig J. (Brigitte) Simmons,; son-in-law, Roy L. Kendall; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Maurine Kendall; son Neil Junior Simmons and all ten brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Tuesday 29 May 2001 in the Charleston LDS Chapel and he is buried in the Charleston Cemetery, Charleston, Wasatch, Utah.
