Minnie Hagler of Texico, NM, passed away on February 3, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, TX. She was the second child born July 26, 1918, to J.C. and Hettie Lucas Harrison in Terrell, TX. The family moved to Wellington, TX, and Minnie graduated there in 1937. They later moved to Morton, TX, and later to Portales, NM. Minnie moved south of Texico when she married Woodrow W. Hagler in 1954. He died in 1966.
Minnie was a homemaker, mother, and granny. She was a great cook and enjoyed preparing huge meals for family gatherings. You could always find the pressure cooker and canning jars in the kitchen when it was time to harvest the ample garden produce, which was always shared with family and friends. Minnie spent her early working years in Portales as a bookkeeper and she later drove the bus for Texico Schools for 20 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Texico.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three husbands; one sister; four brothers; one stepson; one son-in-law, and one stepgrandson.
She is survived by her four children, Robert S. (Buddy) Spence, Cynthia Trower (Jerry), Ronnie (Carol) Spence, and Roy (Shashawn) Hagler; one stepdaughter, Virginia Anderson, and stepdaughter-in-law, Kay Hagler; one brother, Lloyd Harrison and a sister-in-law, Ellen Harrison; grandchildren, Sherilyn Owen, Todd Thigpen, Allan Spence, Sherron Spence, Leah Spence, Erin Hagler, Powers Hagler, Brooks Hagler, Jacee Hagler, Phillip Hagler, Michael McCully, Sherri McCain, Keith Anderson, and Cheryl Kay Beadle; great-grandchildren, Quay Owen, Brynn Owen, Jace Owen, Tanner Owen, Teagan Thigpen, Colton McCada, Tiffany Hagler, Paden Hagler, Brittni McCain, and Bailey McCain; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, February 6, 2010, at First Baptist Church in Texico with Rev. Rob Hollis and Rev. Joel Horne officiating. Burial will follow at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis. Pallbearers will be Allan Spence, Todd Thigpen, Powers Hagler, Phillip Hagler, Larry Albright, Wesley Longo, and Richard Hadley. Honorary pallbearers will be Sherilyn Owen, Sherron Spence, Erin Hagler, Brooks Hagler, Jacee Hagler, Leah Spence, Michael McCully, and Sherri McCain.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Baptist Childrens Home, 1032 Childrens Dr., Portales, NM 88130.
