Robert Stotts Spence, 24 year old Morton gasoline dealer, was shot to death in a patio leading to a south Lubbock apartment at 9:30 p.m., Saturday.
John Dayton Ritter, 43, was charged with murder in the Saturday night slaying of Robert S. Spence and remained in county jail in denial of bond on Sunday, as officers continued to sift evidence concerning the gunplay.
Spence is survived by his wife, 2 sons and a daughter, his parents, Mr. & Mrs. B. Spence of Levelland; and four brothers - R.B., A.J., Merle, and Jimmy.
