Horace N. Baxter
Horace N. Baxter, 71, of R. 1, Spencer, died Thursday afternoon at the Hospitality House, where he had been a patient for the past six months. He was a retired farmer from the Knight Ridge community in Monroe County.
Baxter, a native of Monroe County, was born April 17, 1896, son of William and Mahala Head Baxter. He was a member of the Baptist Church, and a veteran of World War One.
His wife, the former Martha Martin, died in 1925.
Survivors include one son, Don L. Baxter of R. 1, Spencer; a sister, Mrs. Emma McGown of Spencer; six grandchildren and number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Sunday at the Knight Ridge Baptist Church, with burial in the adjoining cemetery. The Rev. Raymond Hughes will officiate, and Rex Cracraft will be in charge of the music. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside.
Friends may call at the Allen Colonial Chapel after 7:30 p.m. today.

Music will be directed by Rex Cracraft. Military rites for the World War I veteran will be in the adjoining church cemetery.
Pall bearers are: Jack Baxter, Fred Web, Woodrow Burton, Virgil Campbell, Robert Moffatt and Harold Ellett.
Honorary pall bearers are: Ray Stines, Paul Heckman, Eugene Flanary and Winfred Moffatt.
