Mrs. Baxter Dead At 88
Services Will Be Held On Friday
Death came today to Mrs. Mahaly Frances Baxter, age 88, early Wednesday morning, after an illness of four years, all of which time she had been confined to her bed. Complications was given as the cause of death.
She died in the home of her son, Hoarce Baxter, Rural Route Three, Knight Ridge community, where she made her home since the death of her husband, William Baxter, 36 years ago.
Born in North Carolina, the daughter of John and Jane Head, Mrs. Baxter came to Monroe County when six years old and lived here the remainder of her life. She was married to Mr. Baxter in this county , September 24, 1876.
Besides the son, with whom the deceased had made her home, there is also surviving, another son, Samuel Baxter, Monroe County; four daughters, Mrs. John Butcher, Earlville, Ill., Mrs. Howard Rice, Mrs. John McGown, and Mrs. Everett Marrs, all of Monroe County and a sister, Mrs. Jane Temples of Bloomington.
Funeral services will be held at 2 oclock Friday afternoon in the Knight Ridge church. The Rev. Oscar Swindler will officiate, and burial will be in the Knight Ridge Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, and flower bearers will be granddaughters.
The body was taken to the home of a daughter, Mrs. John McGown, near Friendship church on Rural Route Two, where it will remain until time for the service.
