Rites For Garnett Woman Held Here On November 20
Funeral rites for Mrs. Ollie Foster were held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, November 20, at the Farris Funeral Home with teh Rev. E. E. Beauchamp in charge.
Mrs. Lutie Livingston sang "Near to the Heart of God" and "Dear Lord and Father of Mankind." Pallbearers were Ed Siglea, Gilbert Munson, Shinkle Smith, Will Lankard, Floyd Elliott and Charles Riley. Interment was in the Garnett cemetery.
...Mrs. Ollie Ashburn Foster was born September 23, 1872, in Anderson County, Kans.,where she grew to womanhood. She was married to Thomas Foster, February 1892, at Garnett, where they have made their home continually since their marriage.
To this union were born six children, Mrs. George Robertson, Ottawa, Kans.; Mr. Lloyd Foster, Los Angeles, Calif.; Mr. Lowell Foster, Sandusky, Ohio; Mr. Ora Foster, Garnett; Harley who died May 17, 1920, and a child who died in infancy.
Her husband died November 9, 1943.
Mrs. Foster had been making her home with her daughter in Ottawa and was in Garnett visiting relatives and friends at the time of her illness. She had been in good health until the morning of Saturday, November 15, when she became seriously ill at the home of her sister, Mrs. George Dickson. She was taken to the home of her son, Ora Foster, where she stayed until she was removed to the Medical Center, Monday morning. Her death occurred at 3:10 p.m. Monday, November 17, at the age of 75 years, one month and 25 days.
She had been a longtime, faithful church member.
Besides her sons and daughter she leaves to mourn her loss nine grandchildren, three great grandchildren, two sisters, four brothers and a host of loving friends.
Interment was in the Garnett Cemetery.
