Mrs. John c. Searl
Tena Ashburn was born in Anderson County, Kas.; September 11, 1881, where she grew to womanhood. She was married July 14, 1903 to John C. Searl, of Garnett, where thye have made their home continuously since their marriage. Of this union two daughters were born: Mrs. Hazel Wells and Mrs. Robeerta Hughes, both of Garnett, Kas. Mrs Searl had been in ill health some time, so it was finally decided to go to Kansas City to the Trinity Lutheran Hospital with the hope of gaining relief and eventually health. She passed out of this life and over the Great Divide December 10, 1930; aged forty-eight years, two months and eleven days.
Besides the husband and daughters she leaves to mourn her loss three grandchildren, five brothers, Ervin, Jason, Jake, Jesse, and Harry Ashburn of Garnett, and four sisters Mrs. Olie Foster and Mrs. Myrtle Dickson, of Garnett; Lizzie Brown of Cogar, Okla., and Mrs. Mary Lee, of Cleveland, Okla., besides a host of loving friends.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, December 12th, at the Christian Church, conducted by Rev. J.A. Harper, Mrs. Elmer Lloyd, Mrs. Lincoln Holmes and J.M. Hungerford, with Miss France Harper at the piano.
Pallbearers were her five brothers and Will Wells. Burial was in Garnett Cemetery. (D.A.E./Garnett Review Newspaper, December 18, 1930)
