Rites March 31 for Lifelong Resident of Anderson County
Funeral services for Jesse C. Ashburn were held at 2 p.m., Friday, March 31, at Farris Funeral home with Sherman Kirkpatrick, minister of the Christian Church officiating. Mrs. Lutie Livingston, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. C.T. Jackson, sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "The Lord's Prayer". The casket bearers were; Chester, Delbert, Kenneth and Orville Ashburn and Oren Dickson. Interment was in the Garnett cemetery. Jesse Claude Ashburn was born November 11, 1889 in Anderson County, Kan., and departed this life on Wednesday, March 1950, at the age of 60 years, four months and 18 days. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Ashburn, who preceded him in death. In June, 1915, he was united in marriage to Susie Lutz. To this union was born one daughter. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Susie Ashburn; one daughter, Fern, Mrs. Charles Curtiss, and two grandchildren, Carol Sue and Larry Curtiss, all of Burlington, Kan.; two sisters, Mrs. George Dickson of Garnett, and Mrs. Wayne Lee of Cleveland, Okla.; three brothers, Jason Ashburn, Garnett; Erve Ashburn, Colony, and Harry Ashburn, Richmond.
