Obituary:
Mr. William M. Ashburn was born in Stouts Grove, Ill., January 14, 1849; came to Kansas in 1858. He was united in marriage with Samantha Leeper in July, 1869. Of this union were born twelve children, two dying in youth & ten are living, all of whom have homes of their own: Mrs. Tom Foster, Mrs. John Searl, Mrs. George Dixon, Mrs. Lizzie Brown, Mrs. Mary Lee (of Oklahoma). Five sons survive; Jason, Jake, Jesse and Harry.
Mr. Ashburn was converted in 1890, and united with the United Brethren church. He spent many happy days in the service of the Lord, and trusted in Him until his death. He said he was ready to go when the summons came.
He was loved by all who knew him, and always did unto his fellow men as he would have them do unto him. H was honest in all of his dealings.
He leaves to mourn his death his faithful wife and children and grandchildren and relatives and a host of neighbors and friends. So ends the life of one who was loved by all. He departed this life November 18, 1917, aged sixty-eight years and and ten months. We are all truely thankful for all the kindness shown us.
