Obituary: Mrs. Ashburn
Samantha Leeper was born August 28, 1854, at Stout's Grove, Ill., and came to Kansas with her parents in 1857.
She was married to W.M. Ashburn in July, 1869. Of this union were born ten children: Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Searl, Mrs. Dixon, Mrs. Lee, Mrs. Brown, Ervin, Jason, Jacob, Jessie and Harvey Ashburn, and grandchildren and great grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. J. H. Griffith and Mrs. W. H. Foster, to mourn her death. Our loss is her gain.
She departed this life April 7, 1926, at the age of seventy-one years and ten months.
Her husband preceded her to that Better Land in 1917.
She was a good mother, and we will all miss her. She had been a sufferer many years--but she is now at rest--gone, but not forgotten.
She was converted and became a member of the United Brethern church when a young girl, and was a consistent Christian until her death.
Funeral services were conducted at the United Brethern church last Thursday afternoon, by Rev. H. MacD. Thompson, and the body was laid to rest in the Garnett Cemetery.(D.A.E., Garnett Review, Garnett, Kansas)
