Marie Anne (Cormier) Thibodeau, 'Annie' to those who knew her, was born on the family farm in St-Léonard-Parent, New Brunswick, Canada — the second of Sévérin and Léocadie Cormier's three daughters. In the summer of 1903, her eldest brother Ubalde married a lo- cal girl named Ida Thibodeau; and in short time, Annie began to keep company with one of Ida's brothers.

Two years after the first Cormier-Thibodeau wedding, eighteen-year-old Annie tied the knot with Mammé Thibodeau at L'Église de St-Antoine-de-Padoue. Sadly, however, both were fated for an early demise.

Shortly after celebrating their first wedding anniversary, Annie learned that she was in the family way; and in 1907, as winter gave way to springtime, the couple anxiously awaited the birth of their first (and only) child. It was the sixth of May when their son Alfred was born; but less than three weeks later, Annie (like her elder sister Flavie) passed away from complications related to childbirth — at age twenty.

Leaving behind an infant son and her husband of only twenty-two months, Annie was waked at home for two days and carried to her final resting place in the parish cemetery on May 27. Though fate would claim her husband's life seven years later, their son Alfred would be blessed with longevity and live to the ripe ol' age of eighty-eight. Repose en paix, Annie.
