Jesse Burton Sparks, 79, a native of Montgomery county, died Sunday at 9:30 a.m. at his home in Jamestown after having been seriously ill for the past 10 weeks. He had been in failing health for two years.

Born Sept 30, 1877 new New Ross, he was the son of Alvin B and Lucy A Bowen Sparks. He married Dolly Sperry in 1900 at New Ross. She preceded him in death in 1946.

He was an elder of the Jamestown Christian Church and had been a member of the church for almost 50 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Ross, of Jamestown, a son, Carroll, of Royal Centery; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Three brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.

Burial will be in New Ross Cemetery.
