George H. "Sonny" Bell Jr., 72, of 933 Pleasant St., Reynoldsville, died Wednesday at DuBois Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 9, 1923, in Reynoldsville, he was the son of the late George H. and Jessie Laird Bell. He was married to Betty V. Gray on April 15, 1953. She survives.
He was the retired owner and operator of the Burns Hotel in Reynoldsville for the past 27 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a Tech 4, having served in European Theatre, where he was sounded in action at Brest, France, and received the Purple Heart in 1944.
He was a member of the Reynoldsville Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks, the Fraternal Order of Eagles, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars in DuBois and the Disabled American Veterans of DuBois.
He is survived by a son, William A. Bell, of Reynoldsville; two daughter, Denny Henery and Donna bell, both of Reynoldsville; three brothers, Murel and Dwight Bell, both of Reynoldsville, and Allan Bell of Sykesville; and seven grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
