Mr. Cooksey
Services for Archie Cooksey Sr., 74, of Elkhart will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Elkhart Church of Christ with Woodrow Cooksey and Perry Jones officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery under direction of Hassell & Foster Funeral Home.
Mr. Cooksey died Friday in Elkhart Nursing Home following a long illness.
He was born in Corsicana on July 27, 1910, a son of Robert Lee and Ivy Womack Cooksey, and had resided in Elkhart for most of his life. He was employed in used car sales.
A member of the Church of Christ, Cooksey was preceded in death by a brother, Albert.
He is survived boy four daughters, Bulah Cox of Nacogdoches, Frankie Harp of New Caney, Ava Bettis of Cheyenne Wells, Colo., and Lois Houston of Huffman; a son, Archie Cooksey Jr. Of Splendora; two sisters, Annie Mae Cook and Fannie Camp, both of California; six brother, John Cooksey, Charlie Cooksey and Frank Cooksey, all of Elkhart; Woodrow Cooksey of Chandler, Edward Cooksey of California, and Hubert Cooksey of Flint; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
